Namsal Siedlecki
The work of Namsal Siedlecki (°1986, Greenfield, USA) is characterised by a constant focus on the transformation of organic and inorganic materials. Siedlecki acts as a modern-day alchemist, exploring the processes of solidification, fusion, liquefaction, and other physical state changes, as well as transformations achieved through traditional or artisanal methods. With his first solo show at the gallery, titled Anneal Soak (referencing the process of cooling glass, annealing), Siedlecki’s artworks will elicit chemical reactions that push matter into seldom-seen states. The concept of transformation holds a metaphorical significance that can be applied to all aspects of life, opening up a realm of possibilities. In 2019, Siedlecki won the GAMeC Prize for Young Artist, the Italian Council Prize for the Arts and the XX Premio Cairo for Contemporary Arts. His work has recently been shown at the Museo Novecento in Florence, the MAXXI museum in Rome, the Villa Médicis - Académie de France in Rome, the Palazzo Reale in Milan, the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin, the Magazzino gallery in Rome and Chert Lüdde in Berlin, among others.
