Paris, France, vendredi 13 novembre 2015Mural painting in tribute to the victims of the 13 November 2015 attacks in Paris.

At the invitation of the City of Paris, Léa Belooussovitch created a mural painting based on one of her drawings on wool textile felt.

The work Paris, France, Friday 13 November 2015 pays tribute to the direct and indirect victims of the Paris attacks of 2015, ten years after these events. Taking as its starting point a photograph depicting survivors, the work is an invitation to remember, to never forget, and constitutes a form of survival. It seeks to summon memory without freezing pain in place, to substitute violence with a form of abstraction.

Léa Belooussovitch is a multidisciplinary artist whose main practice is drawing with colored pencil on wool textile felt. She uses images of violence in the world as her working basis. The blurred, freehand drawing process involves a certain ethics toward the subjects addressed. This visual abstraction distances itself from the saturation of violence produced by our image and information driven society.
