For this exhibition on Vassivière Island, the artist will elaborate on his earlier investigations into the capturing of landscape and space by using old photography and measurement techniques in new ways. Triangulation, inspired by Delambre and Méchain’s use of the Paris meridian to define the standard metre in the late 18th century, provides the unit of measurement for part of the exhibition. Other works illustrate the gap between microcosm and macrocosm, ranging from the internal structure of a scale of mica to a pixellated avalanche made up of thousands of dice. Like the depth-probe pointing skywards, many of these works stand the world on its head.
