Reality is the starting point of Clément Davout’s practice.Through his “apartment landscapes”, the painter questions the surroundings, the fringes that are both intimate and daily, familiar as they are a bit distant. The decontextualisation of the motif, made unrecognisable, gives to each painting a singular and timeless character that the artist moves from canvas to canvas in a logic of repetition of appearances. The title of each work comes from multiple readings.

Clément Davout was born in France in 1993. He works and lives in Brussels.
